Getting a 5 minute major and tossed from the game will hopefully factor in. Joseph didn't return but I don't know if he's actually injured or Tampa kept him from getting his usual 10 minutes TOI so he wouldn't have to answer for his actions. Larkin has no suspension history.

I expect he'll get a game. The league can't really let a suckerpunch like that go unless it's from Tom Wilson.

He was hit with a dangerous hit from behind.

Why would he be suspended? Because he slapped someone in the face a little bit?

Yeah, this is crazy.

Palat check from the behind was the most dangerous play of the game against Rasmussen.

That should be a suspension.

I don't think at all that Larkin punch should be a suspension. It was more of a wrestling clothesline, half-soft act which didn't hurt anybody, with the side of the hand. Not anyhow Mike Tyson KO punch, a killer straigth on the jaw.

If Larkin is actually injured then I'm really hoping a suspension is given. I believe in the past they made decisions semi based on a resulting injury. The refs and DoPs really need to do a better job getting these hits out of the game. I can't tell you how many broken bones and concussions I got from similar plays that have no place in the game.

I just posted this is another thread, but it's relevant here.

I'm still waiting for a single good reason the league shouldn't:

1) Create a short list of inexcusable penalties (spearing, boarding, etc.).
2) Declare that inexcusable penalties carry an automatic 5 minute penalty, player ejection, and review for additional fine and suspension.

Either crap or get off the pot for things they claim they want to eliminate from the game.

If they actually took boarding seriously, the punch never happens in the first place.

My guess Larkin is not 100%, why risk him
He played only game in preseason and now we might have problem for some time. Hockey is contact sport, accidents happens, why risk , same apply for Bertuzzi. This is the year we can get #1 center. Why are we in the hunt for points.

According to Khan Larkin was unable to practice today and is being seen by an injury specialist.

It's no wonder he left like he had to police himself. League needs to do better.

Second season in a row Larkin's been injured by suspension worthy cheapshots and the league does nothing. This is how you get Todd Bertuzzi incidents. Next time it happens Larkin's gonna go upside someone's head with his stick. These bitches are trying to end his career and the league does jack shit.

I did not want to say this but since Bettman has been head of the NHL the refereeing has been at best inconsistent and sometimes bias.
Here is a guy that would have taken care of Joseph permanently.

Joseph should have 5 minute major for that hit on Larkin. The Lightning then would never have had that PP which they scored twice on. Too me that may have been the turning point of the game. All he got was roughing after Larkin clocked him.

If I didn't love hockey and the Wings so much, I would throw the NHL in the toilet before any professional sports league I've ever followed. What an absolute embarrassment of a league. At this point, I really don't understand what the NHL's mission statement is. It's very confusing. They want fighting gone because they think they can appeal to a larger fanbase, but then they refuse to police dangerous hits (hits that enforcers used to help prevent) that...... they think casual fans want to see? F***ing weird.

Allow for any and all intensity that leads to great drama and more viewers unless it makes the league look bad to new viewers (sponsors)?

Seems legit. To a casual fan a boarding or slew foot aren’t that obvious. Punching dirtbags that board and slewfoot is.

f*** Parros and Bettman. They need to go.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Wings are playing up the Larkin injury thing today to get some leniency from the NHL
They did, Blash did the talking, HSJ tweeted it.

One game suspension is a joke considering he's gonna miss time due to the injury and the lack of action against Joseph and Palat is also a joke.

I said it in the GDT, I'll say it again. Good for D-Boss, might as well get that punch in if he's gonna miss games due to injury anyways. Player safety my ass....
