Slaggert is a top six third wheel that can play up and down the lineup. On this roster he's a top six guy that replaces TyJo.
Based on what? Yes he’s performing well now but this is 4th year in college and is gonna be 22 in June, to ink him in as a top 6 guy is a long reach, in comparison the second top player on the team is Danny Nelson and he’s only 18 with similar ppg numbers, he was a second round pick in 2023. That just shows how bad the drafting really is.

Slaggert was a near PPG player his freshman year. Most of the truly gifted freshman are well over PPG pace. It wouldn't surprise me if Nelson doesn't put up the same numbers his sophomore season once Slaggert leaves. And this is coming from someone who wanted us to draft Nelson with one of our 2nd round picks (I'm a fan of his).

Hyman scored 9, 9, and 17 points in his first three seasons in the NCAA at Michigan. Development isn't linear.

It's not but Hyman's trajectory was very linear. His PpG increased at every level every year. Literally. This year is the first year his PpG hasn't increased from the previous year at the same level.

Notre Dame's regular season finishes next weekend with a back-to-back with Michigan. They'll get the following weekend off, and then play in the Big Ten Hockey Tournament (again with Michigan in all likelihood) in a Best of 3 March 8-10. Barring something crazy, Notre Dame won't be in the NCAA Tournament, so Slaggert's college season could be over in as soon as three weeks. If that happens, Slaggert could be signed, brought in and given a little bit of time to get up to speed and being brought in to play NHL games as soon as 3-15 against the Kings or 3-17 against the Sharks, which would give him about 15 games to close out the season. Point being, Slaggert could be here very soon....

Granted if Notre Dame advances past the Quarterfinals with Michigan, that extends their college season another week, and then if they advance again another week until the Big Ten Championship. So we'll have to see how it plays out.

Hopefully he gets a taste after his college season is over.
Whether that's in Chicago or Rockford.

Teammates with Vlasic and Commesso (USHL) years ago too. He'll have plenty of familiar faces this year.
Slaggert and Commesso were part of the 2002 USNDTP group (that never got to play the U18s as COVID hit a month before they would have). Matty Beniers, Jake Sanderson and Brock Faber amongst that group as well (and Hawks former 7th round pick, currently at Providence, Defenseman Connor Kelley). Vlasic was part of the 2001 USNDTP team (Ryder Rolston was also on that team before overlapping with Slaggert for three years at Notre Dame), so a year ahead but would have overlapped in Plymouth, when Vlasic was on the U18 team and Slaggert/Commesso on the U17 team, so certainly some familiarity.

Both would be ideal.

Play out the season on Bedard's wing, then head to Rockford and join his buddy Rolston for playoffs.
Tap the brakes a bit. Barring injuries, Slaggert won't start on a line with Bedard coming from the NCAA. I don't see LuRich moving either Foligno or Kurashev off of Bedard's wings.

As for Rockford, Vlasic burned a contract year in 2022 and did not go to Rockford after seasons end. Same with Kaiser in 2023. What's going to change this year with Slaggert?
