the heck is this? they arent trading him especially when backstrom is a free agent at end of year
Well they will resign Backstrom. They most likely won't trade Kuzy, but they have shown they can win without him, so if they could add a ton of depth they might consider.

If y'all really want to get rid of him I guess I'd be willing to take a point per game, top line centre off your hands for peanuts. But only because you asked. I mean, why else would I take a player in his prime with reasonable pay who is exactly what most NHL teams need to compete for the cup?

Montreal will take him as long as he stays outta trouble. Will offer you some confused prospect who is not quite sure if he is a dman or forward.

On a side note his stock is not high right now. He needs to come back. Stay clean. Stay outta trouble. Show he can play still and be sober. Walk the line. Once he proves he is serious then you can get a real prospect from a team who actually knows how to groom one.

They haven't won a cup without him and when they won with he was every bit of Ovechkins equal in the playoffs. They ain't moving him. 3 games to start the season ain't changing that

Better center at the same age group who is signed for another 7 years at very good value.

Makes no sense for the Caps to trade him, however...

Number of times Kuz was suspended for cocaine while under the guiding hand of Alzner: 0

Number of times Kuz was suspended for cocaine without Alzner: More than the rest of the league combined.

Makes too much sense, we await your offer Caps fans.

Incorrect. They've shown they can win three mostly meaningless regular season games without him but Kuznetsov is the difference between this team being a Cup champion or an above average team that will struggle to go deep in the playoffs. He was the missing piece and is crucial to their success.

If the Caps get 2017-18 Kuznetsov I think they win the Cup, or come real close. If they get 2018-19 Kuznetsov I think they lose in the first or second round.

Poor Karl. Dude gave everything he had to the Caps and is just broken. He and Marcus Johansson are the two guys I wish were around when the Caps finally won the Cup as they gave a lot of good years and suffered a lot of heartache. We'll gladly take him back... in a role with the organization once he retires.

That second paragraph can’t be serious, can it?

He'd never survive in Montreal with his problems admitted or not .

Yeah that’s what people/teams usually say, let’s trade our young burgeoning 1B Center who was darn close to a Conn Smith winner less than two seasons ago for a “ton of depth.”

Also have you ever met the Capitals? Beyond the Top 6 the entire Caps roster is basically the definition of a “ton of depth.” They certainly aren’t going to improve their depth by trading an all-world talent, they are unlikely to get pieces in that trade that are better than options already on the team. This is, without doubt, one of the stupidest concepts I’ve ever seen proposed.

They lost Burakovsky. They lost Beagle. Their depth isn't great.

They have no burgeoning stars excluding possibly Vrana.

If they could get another Eller and have a 3rd and 4th line centered by Eller level player for example then they would be more solid.

Suspended 3 games, was going to say 3-0 lol but epic choke and it's 2-0-1. But still, no Kuznetsov, no problem (5/6 points) So what is his value?

Please. Blow a 2-0 lead and lose in OT in the second of a back to back and third game in four nights to a rested team isn't a choke, much less an epic one.

Win what? Kuznetsov coasted in the last playoffs while Backstrom had his best playoff series of his career. They didn't win.
