A nice gesture by the Merzlikins family to honor the late goalie Matiss Kivlenieks. He saved the lives of many people around him including Merzlikins and his pregnant wife.

When Elvis is talking about the death of Matiss sounds like he - Matiss - deliberately caught the fireworks to save the others. Kind of like Steve Rogers in the early scenes in Captain America. Pretty heroic if that were the case.

Anyway, no matter the circumstances, its still a tragic loss and this is a nice gesture.
