The Rangers and Knicks need MSG, the building and the networks for the bulk of their profits. Dolan would never sell those assets.

He might like it more if his teams ever won something

Rangers fans are lucky hes pretty much left the team alone and let the hockey guys run the show.

Hes micro managed the Knicks like crazy and we all know how well thats worked out for him. They've been better the last couple years so I'm guessing hes not as involved as he was previously.

Aren't there 5 other siblings that can take over running the teams?

Assuming they have equal ownership of the entity, technically yes.

But I get the feeling they are more than happy to stay in the background and collect their money.

His cousin Paul is actually doing a pretty good job running the Cleveland Guardians. Even though a lot of Cleveland fans are still angry they weren't able to replicate the glory days of the early 90s, losing the Chief Wahoo logo, name change, etc. None of that is the family's fault.

Now I know the Cleveland wing of the family isn't involved with the MSG properties and vice versa. Its just funny that the family would leave James running things when he's been such an embarrassment.
