Where else could he really go if Burns is a Hurricane? Kraken have the need and the cap space to give him BIG cash. It's been rumored they would want him for weeks.

I feel bad for Klingberg, he missed his massive chest of gold by a year. He would have made bank last year $9m+ x 7. Unfortunately his best play has tapered down these past 2 years. I think some of the blame lies with coaching, but some also lies with the physical punishment he has taken. He’s a slight guy who has become too gun shy to do what he used to do so well.

At this point it seems like he is heading towards something like $6m x 5 for a playoff team or $7.5m x 6 for a rebuilding team.

Why would you feel sad for Klingberg?

By the reports he was asking for the moon during the season and he himself is to be blamed for his own game and own results.

He overplayed his hand simply and it’s cominh back to bite him

Fans/pundits see the #1 defenseman or thereabouts that he was in his prime.

Clubs may see the player he is now as more of a 2nd pair offensive D and value him accordingly, in terms of the cap hit and/or term.

Yeah he pretty much did this to himself. He stopped putting in effort for most of the season because he wanted to get traded. Started playing better once he realized that wasn't gonna happen and then had a bad playoffs which is very unlike him. Cost himself that big payday, although Bowness certainly didn't help. Probably is a 60+ point dman still on the right team

Stars have $11,46M in Capspace and need to re-sign Oettinger and Robertson. Even if we create more capspace by moving Khudobin and Faksa Klingberg is not coming back here.
