PRESS RELEASE

The following was just released by the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club media relations:

LEAFS ACQUIRE MILLER

(December 10, 2004) -- Former Hobey Baker Award winner Kip Miller has been acquired from the San Jose Sharks.

In exchange, the Leafs have surrendered a 4th round pick in the 2005 draft for Miller's services.

Leafs GM Eric Danis on Kip Miller:
"Kip is a vet and we know that he is in the twilight of his career, still, we hope he can inject some leadership into our young team, he'll be counted on to score some goals on our second unit".

The Leafs had considered starting Alexei Ponikarovksy on the right side of the second line, but instead decided to hand the job over to Miller in hopes that he can click immediately with his new linemates Randy Robitaille and Chad Kilger.

It's no secret that Ponikarovsky is a favorite of GM Eric Danis', but, he will be better suited for fourth line duty to start the year.
