What in the world? Lebron James went to Miami because it gave him the best chance to win, period. Weather, taxes, all that crap is secondary to someone whose legacy is tied to championships. Having a still very good Wade and Bosh as teammates in the JV Eastern Conference is why he went to Miami. The guy re-signed with Cleveland after he won titles in Miami for cripesakes. LV isn't winning any time soon, so I just don't see why anyone would be breaking down doors to go there unless it's for a bigger role and a money grab.

Wasn't Wade a free agent at that point in time as well? In theory, couldn't the three of them all went and played somewhere else together? Wasn't Chicago in play? Rose was still a player then so maybe not for all of them and just Lebron.

Anyways, it's hard to compare NBA salaries to those of NHL players since the 8th guy on the bench makes as much as Kopitar. That being said, James went to Miami so he could win titles while it didn't hurt that Miami is an attractive place to live for young people with a ton of money along with the tax benefits.

He also went back to Cleveland to win while being able to work in this total BS angle of why he was coming back. If Cleveland did not already have Kyrie and just won the NBA lottery again, he doesn't go back. He saw an opportunity to make another "Big Three" in himself, Kyrie and Love (via the Wiggins pick) while getting out of Miami because Wade/Bosh were declining.

I hate how he sold his return and that people actually bought it. If the Cavs had the same type of squad they had when he first left, he never would of gone back there.

Lebron, Wade and Bosh had previously agreed with each other that they were going to team up in Miami. Anyone who thinks otherwise is incredibly naive. Miami was the only team that had cleared enough cap space to accommodate all 3 of them and Wade was their own UFA which was a huge advantage. With Pat Riley positioning everything, it was almost a sure thing. The point is that the city didn't matter. The opportunity to win a title is what did. Same thing with going back to Cleveland. He joined 2 other All-Stars again. No way was Lebron going back to Cleveland if it was to play with Anderson Varejo and Boobie Gibson again.
