The bonus allocation is what I'm waiting to hear. I believe the Devils are paying Jagr's bonus, hopefully the Flyers picked up the tab.

Terrible.

As if this team didn't have enough old, slow defensemen for Q to ride.

Hawks are done.

LOL at people judging the trade before he steps on the ice. Obviously other teams were interested. Maybe saving the 1st for Vermette?

Well, we did have a second to burn, but he's been out quite a while, so a bit uneasy on the price.

Decent risk, decent reward move. If he's back to his self, I can certainly live with it.

If this is the only trade Stan's got up his sleeve, it totally fits his pattern. Dropping some picks for an old vet that's pretty close to being put out to pasture.

But if this is all Stan's got up his sleeve, I'd be upset because with this much noise, I was expecting more.

I would wonder if Philly can pay the bonus. Timonen hasn't played this season, so whatever his perf bonus clauses are he can't have earned them yet. Whereas Jagr very well could have already earned his bonus clauses in NJ before the trade. It's possible his bonus clauses are now unearnable as well, e.g. something like "Must play 50+ games".

Philly could of course retain a % of his salary, which would include any bonuses he earns.

No salary retention in the trade.

Kimmo Timonen has a bonus-laden contract that sees him receive $750,000 after playing 10 games and $250,000 after 20 games. #blackhawks

39 year old who hasn't played all season. If he is anywhere near his old form he could be a difference maker, but thats a lot of mileage and a lot of rust to get by.

Blackhawks still aim to trade for a forward as well before the deadline
