2 year deal for Hayes makes sense. Kreider is a more proven player with more good seasons under his belt.

If Hayes next two seasons are like his last season, why would we want to keep him? If he produces, he'll get a bigger contract, but I don't think Hayes can be trusted with a long term contract right now.

Just Hrivik left now. Gotta wonder if they plan to take advantage of the cap space (what's this?) before October.

I got them with 3.1 left in cap space with 14F, 7D, 2G. 14 forwards includes Lindberg, Glass, Buch, Gerbe and Jooris so you can play around with how much they have.

Would have preferred 3-4 years, but this is a great value. Now if only we could dump Nash's $7.8M or Girardi/Staal's $5.5M/5.7M we'd have some room to buy a great defenseman or two.

3 years would make him a UFA at 27. There was no chance of them offering him that. 4 years would cost 4+ mil per year.

I was really disappointed in Hayes effort level at times last season but what I like about Hayes is that he earns his points. They come from goals and primary assists. His stats are not padded with empty nets and secondary assists.

Not great but not terrible. Workable as a bridge. The question now is if we can do anything with our dead weight.
