Why is a guy who has rarely been much better than an average goalie being debated for the hall? I feel like everything is wrong with the world.

Are you really surprised after Gartner and Dino though?

Not to mention the legion of 06 Cup counting guys that are in?

While I'm not a huge fan of either Gartner or Dino, they were both much better players than Osgood.

Agreed. This shouldn't even be up for a huge discussion.

First question: Was he routinely one of the top players at his position? No. End of discussion.

The Hall of Famers - Roy, Hasek, Brodeur, Belfour

In order to be a real candidate, he should be at the head of the following grouping:

In no particular order: Richter, VanBiesbrouck, Barasso, Vernon, CuJo, Hextall, Luongo, Kiprusoff, Kolzig, Khabibulin, Nabokov

He might be middle of the pack of those guys but not on my list.

Osgood's name should say it all, he was good, better than Larry Goodenough, but not great and the hall should be for great players IMO.

I'm sure most would agree and that tells us a lot of how valuable Osgood really was in his career.
