Repeating matters because it has always been harder to do be it as a team or individually.Winning a championship is an accomplishment, defending it is repeatedly is a sign of greatness.

Effectively you are making a statement against prime, longevity and excellence. To wit, Lidstrom's consecutive Norris streak accomplishment has become significantly diminished. After all it was a lot easier to win when Lidstrom won it.

I agree that repeating is harder/better than jumping from one team to another to win a Cup, but in Lidstrom's case he has been able to win Cups with the same club but on teams with different cores of players. There has to be something said for that, especially since he was a leader and mentor for the second crop of players. I'm not saying one is better than another, both situations have their pros and cons over one another.
