I'm sure there could be a deal worked out around one of the flyers young D should Tor be high on one, maybe a little plus but I could see a deal working out.

Giroux, Provorov and the guys you named to start.

Lol jk, there's no deal to be made unless Philly wants to overpay.

Personally I'm super high on Kap and think if he rounds to a 20-20 guy who is good on the PK that is a huge win for us, so I would not trade him for anything less than an overpayment.

The only piece the Flyers really have that we'd want is Myers, and Kapanen doesn't fetch him, and not sure we'd add enough to entice the Flyers to do it anyways (which would probably be a 1st as a plus).

We could really use Simmonds but the reality is, we can't fit him to our cap moving forward, unless you want to downgrade on defense or move Nylander, so that also makes no sense.

There's a good shot Kapanen plays on the 4th line as a NHL regular, but that's still a small step-up from how he has been used the last year, despite being ready for a while now.

Nope we will keep him. He is a cheap and effective winger which is what we need with our big 4.

Kapanen isn't great. He's simply a 4th liner who's a good skater and can PK. He theoretically has some potential but I'm not sold on that. I've always considered him a low IQ player. But then again, his skating can make him work in spite of that.
Right. This isn’t something I’d trade Simmonds for not to mention a promising prospect

I would keep kapanen on the leafs. He’s clutch, versatile, blazing fast.

This is a good time to buy low on him but now that he knows he has a spot expect a big year from him.

No, a mid round pick or so. A third sounds about right.

Now might not be a good time to sell because there could still be some potential that Leafs want to check out for next season. I don't think his value is very high for a sale to be worthwhile.

not much, probably a 2nd or a 3rd

A 2nd round pic isn't enough and a 1st rounder is too much. I would say he'd only be dealt as part of a bigger package or another young d-man in a hockey trade would be coming back. I see no reason why they'd shop him though he's a pretty useful guy who can play up and down the lineup with a lot of speed.

There are a few requirements for trading Kapanen
- Needs to be for a defenseman that can step in on the right side this season. Leafs are in win-now mode. They aren't trading away young players from their roster for futures. There aren't any defense that Kapanen would fetch that would crack the left-side of the Leafs defense (Rielly/Gardiner/Dermott).
- Needs to be cheap. Leafs can't add a ton of cap this year. We still have to sign Nylander, and need to keep ~$8-mill in cap space ($5.3 Horton, $2.7 Matthews/Marner bonuses) to make sure we don't get overages against our cap next year, which is looking to be a squeeze.
- We don't have room for an offensive-specialist d-man. Leafs have those in abundance, and they would get zero PP time.
- Lastly, Leafs are not looking to move Kapanen. He is a cheap, young winger with tons of potential who is good on the PK. Very happy to stand pat if we can't improve our RD.

I know very little about the Flyers young defense outside of Ghost/Provorov (who I tried to focus on when watching them). So I'm not sure if they have any that they'd part with that could step into a 2nd/3rd pairing role on our right side.

I still would move muzzin for him plus something small.

Muzzin can play the right side and is on a good deal of contract for what he can do

Kapanen is a good piece for Toronto's forward depth competition, he needs to be on the Leafs full time and with JVR and Bozak gone and Tavares in it gives room to either Johnsson or Kapanen to fight for JVR's spot, better to keep a healthy competition between the young Swede and Finn.

I personally would add a decent piece to get Muzzin. I think he would be the perfect add for the Leafs this year if we could get him.
what sort of draft pick would you add?

If it wasn't for the obvious issue Voynov would be a perfect fit for the leafs. However if it wasn't for the issue he would not be available.
