I'd hope Grier does his best to keep trying to move Labanc/Lindblom/Duclair cause adding Granlund/Hoffman to that mix and you've got an even more pathetic forward group. There's only so many 5th rounders that reclamation projects can return after all.

Absolutely unreal to get a guaranteed 1st while only retaining $1.5 million a year. The amount of flexibility this opens up for us from 2025 and beyond is absurd. Another W for Grier.
Guessing this solidifies the Labanc for Myers deal on 9/1 as well. Barabanov, Granlund, Eklund, Hoffman, Duclair, and Peterson will be the top 9 wingers.

Good chance that Penguins 1st is in the 12th-18th overall range. And if they somehow crater this season and we get their unprotected 1st in a year where Crosby, Malkin and Letang will be 36 to 38 years old...

any idea the value of Granlund/Ruutu/Hoffman at the TDL?

Couple 2nds and a 3rd for the group?
Granlund just went for a 2nd this TDL. Given he ranked with PIT, he will need to play well and produce to recoup similar value this year. Ruuta is a 3rd I bet as a righty. Hoffman probably a 2nd or 3rd depending how he produces (need him closer to 50+ point pace).

Fantastic trade by Grier. Wow, only retaining 1.5 million; that must have been a big part of the hold-up. Of course, you can't help but wonder what more they could have extracted with greater retention!
