Except he is not nearly as good a skater as Guhle is, and that is coming from someone who was really not a fan of the pick.Tinordi was a good skater too, and he was 6'6.
Not as good of a skater as Guhle and had 0 puck skills...Tinordi was a good skater too, and he was 6'6.
for what he has zero value, might aswell keep him and hope he becomes a top defAdding Guhle to our system might make Struble trade bait in the next season or two.

Tinordi good skater? What? His entire issue was lack of mobility, specifically lateral, Guhle is a high end skater...not even same league.
for his size he was a good skater, his biggest issues were puck handling and inconsistent play in the AHL.
Tinordi was a good skater too, and he was 6'6.
Tinordi was also picked just as big, slow, defencemen were leaving the league. Guhle should be a new NHL guy.
True, but the NHL has changed a couple times in the years since then, in terms of the enforcement of certain rules - so much so that his style of play now has him back in the NHL as a bottom pair dman.
For example, it was only a few years ago that hooking to the hands started being called. It drastically changed the game.
And so, there may be new rule changes that once again change which types of players are successful...
But I guess Guhle should not have that issue, though I suppose allowing more clutching and grabbing would reduce his skating advantage.Good point.
He was one of those guys who looked worse every year. Not sure how much was changing rules versus AHL concussions and coaching, or just other players learning his weaknesses, but the rule changes sure did not help his game.
I have a good feeling about this pick, I really think we're gonna look back in a few years and be pretty happy with it.
The descriptions of Guhle sounds a lot like Juulson.
From Elite prospect scouting report at the time:
A solid two-way defender, Noah Juulsen is able to force plays and always find ways to support his teammates. Juulsen is a smooth, yet not dynamic skater, and is mobile when he needs to be. Plays with a chip on his shoulder, and isn't afraid to take the hit to make the play. Sees the ice well and has the individual skills to carry out the possibilities he sees. Very poised with the puck; calm and controls the play with authority. Has good hands. Without the puck and in high-pressure situations, Juulsen tends to overthink things and can try to do a little too much; that will go away with time and maturity. All-in-all, an impactful presence on the ice that strives to be difficult to play against; given how hard he works and how smart he is with the puck, he can be a very difficult player to read with and without the puck. (Curtis Joe, EP 2015)
In other words, a very low risk "meh" pick
And Drysdale. I agree with your reference towards projection for later picks.Sanderson Guhle and Schneider were the best defencemen in the draft. Between Guhle and Schneider, Guhle had the better potential. Schneider is projected to be a shutdown defenceman top 6 while Guhle is projected to be big minutes top 4. Guhle is a better skater than Schneider who is more mature. Schneider is like 90% develop into his potential so pretty much what you see is what you get. Guhle is about 50-60% in development stage so lots of room to fill in the next 3-4 years.
Keep in mind the draft is about projection unless you picking top 5. What you predict and draft players you think will be in 3-4 years and not what they current are.
