I said he ****ed up our chances, the real reason Toronto lost was because of special teams

just pointing out...Kadri was no special teams wizard so I am not seeing how him getting suspended really fcked our chances if our special teams was as abysmal as it was...not trying to be a jerk lol just taking this line of thought to its conclusion :)

Maybe in a few years he finds his way back as a UFA. Would be nice.

would you go back to the team that you made public how badly you wanted to be there, then they shucked you out the door (don't even get me started on the fan base lol) I mean if I were him come UFA time I would seriously have to consider OTT or BUF and just thump the leafs every single time I saw them...

one of my favorite all time kadri moments.
destroys Ceci & sets up Lupul beautifully for the goal

I wouldn't say they just completely kicked him out the door.
Kadri probably saw this coming, and Dubas let him know he might be traded.
Kadri's IG post certainly doesn't indicate him being thrown off the team.
I would certainly bring him back later on depending on where we are as a team.

He was always underrated, underappreciated. People argued that guys like Jared Knight, or Matt Frattin, or Joe Colbourne or Peter Holland were/would be better than him. But he persevered.

He endured an era of Leafs management that was allergic to developing their own draft picks. But Naz found a way.

We've been through a lot of crap as fans, and it felt like Naz was there with us going through it too.

It really sucks to see him go. It was the right time, and we got the right return, but it still sucks.

Naz did a ton off the ice in his charitable work and through his foundation. I hope he finds a way to keep it up. So many young minority kids looked up to Naz because he was one of them, and somehow found a way to make it. And if he could make it, maybe they could too. Just like how Vince inspired a bunch of future Canadian basketball players, I predict Naz will have inspired a few of kids of colour to one day make the NHL.

I hope he does great in Denver.

Kadri getting suspended had two major effects which likely cost the series. The first is we lost our center depth, which was our biggest strength. The second reason is with Kadri out Nylander had to play on the third line, Babcock likely would have played Matthews and Nylander at home because he could better control the match up.

Is Kadri the only reason? Of course not. Do we win the series if he's not suspended? I think we do.

Definitely a good team guy with a lot of heart. Sometimes made selfish plays, but when you're passionate, people don't understand. He wasn't the biggest guy, but always stuck up for his teammates.

Despite taking a lot of crap from everyone over the years. Especially with how Burke and Wilson handled his development.

Thank you Naz ...
But I guess I’m in the minority . Hard working ? Sometimes .
Team player ? Sometimes .
Motivated player ? Sometimes .
Playoff player ? Never .
A bit to yappy for me , a bit to hot and cold for me , a bit to immature for me , never really liked him , but thank you for 10 years

Good luck to you in Colorado.

I thought he'd be a part of good things in this city... but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.

He had the right heart... but at times... the wrong brain.

Dude plays with an edge, he's got talent... and I wish him all the best.

Saying that... we sold him before he plummets I think. He'll look good in Colorado for a year or two... but guys similar to him... as much as they're great players... May not age well... but despite saying it... I hope that's not the case for him.

Picture this.. its 11 months from now.. leafs vs Avs for the cup.. game 7. Leafs are down 2-1 midway through the 3rd.

Kadri drills a guy in the head and while be escorted off the ice he smiles rips off his Jersey revealing his Leafs Jersey. Leafs score twice on the 5 minute powerplay and win the Stanley Cup.

I think you're not giving the man even close to the amount of credit he deserves, especially in the "hard working" and "motivated" departments. For me anyway, what I loved the most about Kadri was that he cared about winning and brought the effort on a nightly basis. On the "give a f***" meter, he scored higher than pretty much anyone on the team since he became a regular and on many nights, his competitiveness sparked a fire under his teammates thus elevating their effort level as well and that, more than anything else IMO is what will be the hardest to replace. It's also impressive to me that he became a very good player despite being in an organization that IMHO, did as much to undermine him as it did to support him for a number of years and that speaks to a mental toughness that most players simply do not have.

For me, it breaks down roughly like this:

The bad - suspended in the 1st PO round 2 years in a row
The good - pretty much everything else

I approve of the trade. But I'll really miss Kadri, no doubt about it.

Ive been an unapologetic defender of kadri on this forum. I get that sometimes teams need to trade quality to get quality but i feel much of the same outcome of improving defense could have been accomplished without trading our 4th best forward. We got softer with this trade. We lost a true leaf.
I am hoping Nylander recovers because in my mind, he should have been shopped given our relative depth at rw. There in no more room to hide on this team. All the players people wanted to kick over the years are gone and the application process is underway.

Disagree with the bolded. Everyone has games like that and when you compare him to other players, he comes out looking quite good in that dept.

He really had a bad year last year.

He was supposed to be a really great 3C.

I'll remember his 30 goal seasons and his 3% shooting percentage the one year.
