I think he’s right. He needs the top 6 minutes and PP time. We can shit on him and laf all we want but they’re not and haven’t gotten the opportunity that the other high picks in their drafts have gotten. The talent is there the coach just needs to put them on the ice.

He got top 6 minutes. He didn't get PP time, but 5v5 he was 3rd among forwards for time.
What he needs (as well as PP), is to be on a line that works for more than 2 games at a time.
I assume that means stapling him to Mika for most of a season

I think his development is almost entirely "stifled" by his poor skating and inability to correct that. Add in the mental aspects that Quinn didn't help with and you have a very flawed player.

OK. So go see a power skating specialist.
I don’t see his skating as a huge issue. He’s done incredibly well defensively which is where skating is most important. He’s not extremely fast or agile but why would he be? Outside or straight line speed Kreider is a terrible skater and has zero agility which is why he turns the puck over any time he tries to make a move. That said yes power skating would be beneficial for Kakko.

The most Kakko play i've ever seen. Hope he has a great tourney though and washes some of that Rangers stink off.

Impressive move that, again, ends with him losing the puck. If he fixes that and works on his explosiveness, the sky is the limit. He can go from third like scoring forward to first-line two way all-star with those changes.

Kinda of a repeating story, but I would say ditch the gym (other than to keep yourself on shape). Skate and shoot, repeat. With a better finish he could've had a goal already.

Can’t watch but I’m assuming he’s on the top line? Being forced to be THE guy should be good for him.

lmao the German commentators are so smitten by Kakko, they are constantly confusing #24 for him. (and not correcting themselves)

Kakko wears #84 in this tournament. Every 30 seconds "Kaapo Kakko" xD

Kaapo just had a nice sequence. Drove by the defense on the left side, behind the net to the right corner, gets checked by two D, dekes, puck gets past the Ds but not Kaapo himself. Puck leaves the zone.

Showed good speed there. Finland is letting him do his thing.

Lets just hire the coach for Finland.

I don't think Kakko is that slow when he gets up to speed. And with bigger ice, you have more time to get up to speed and keep at that speed.

I think it's more about Kakko knowing he has an absolute green light to do whatever he wants in the offensive zone.

Ding ding ding. Well, that has never ever happened in his NHL career because of coaches, reasons and stuff.

Next coach rides Kak and Laf until we are a lottery team or they break out. Honestly, after this upsetting as f*ck season, I'm down. Staple those two to PP1 & foxy 5v5 as well.
