I take it that that's the first 5 minutes of the movie. It seems like whenever a studio releases the first X minutes of something, it's because they're the best X minutes and the rest end up being underwhelming.

The most unrealistic thing about the trailer is the gunmen missing a t-rex from that range...

EDIT: I stand corrected. Apparently they then completely lose sight of it...

Let me guess the plot without watching… dinosaur(s) are trying to be controlled/used as a weapon. Big nasty dinosaur doesn’t comply. Dinosaur goes on rampage and eats lots of tasty humans

I feel like I should’ve been born on a different planet. How do so many people keep seeing these trash movies?

Also, unless this thing is rated R then it’ll be dumb. Oh wow a T-Rex running through a small town and NOBODY gets eaten.

Well it does look to continue from where the last one ended with them escaping that black market auction so ya...

I generally wasn't that interested in the recent films, but my kid is dinosaur obsessed. It let's me look at these films for more what they are, which is the loosest plotlines possible to have an excuse to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in extremely realistic depictions of dinosaurs on screen.

If you're going to have the technology to put pretty much anything on screen, recreating dinosaurs is one of the cooler applications of it.

The lasting legacy of the Jurassic films is that people now know so much more about this one element of science than before. For as ridiculous as the films can be, that's actually a pretty good positive.

I think this movie is going to in the same tier of movies as the Transformer sequels. Jurassic Park is still one of my favourite movies (first movie I ever saw in theaters), but they've gone away from everything that made that movie good in favour of cheap thrills.

- T-rex on the run? Don't evacuate the area, just send a chopper with a tranq gun after it.
- Don't worry about hitting civilians with the dart either, you'll get 'em next time.
- "Wow, we sure risked a lot of lives and failed spectacularly because we missed the single shot we apparently had ready" "Dont worry kid, she can't run forever".
- T-rex must have secret EMP powers to make the movie projector explode simply by roaring in the vicinity

I give the movie 30 minutes before they introduce the moustache-twirling bad guy who we see is the real monster. I feel like these movies have become so out of touch.

Much like Transformers and The Fast & Furious franchises, they make a crap ton of money in China and worldwide so studios will continue making new ones.

I get what you are saying but remember that the guys chasing the T-rex are mercenaries hired as security for a black market auction of dinos they stole from the island. So evacuating the area and worrying about collateral damage is not likely high on their list of priorities. They likely just want to sedate Rex and get him back to the compound to collect on the sale.

They have also already hinted since the original movies that BD Wong's character Dr Henry Wu, is part of or the leader of some shady genetics driven company.

The new movie is supposed to bridge the two trilogies with Laura Dern, Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum showing up in this one. I take these as fun popcorn movies knowing that they won't be perfect though looks like that have evolved the CGI of the dinosaurs to be more like what real life paleontology now says with regards to feathers, etc. The prologue also shows us the original T-Rex that was cloned for the first Spielberg movie and the mosquito that took it's blood before being caught in the amber.

There is also a short film that falls between the last movie and the upcoming one.

Seeing the Drive-In was pretty nostalgic for me because that’s how I watched the original for the first time, in the back of an old station wagon laying on a blanket with my little brother, we were scared to death haha

One of my favorite childhood memories!

I didn't realize until just now that Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are all in it. They even have roles as large as Pratt and Howard, according to the director. I really disliked the last two movies, but maybe some familiar faces that once had great chemistry will make this a little better.

Ya, the movie is supposed to bridge both trilogies.

And hopefully will point to another trilogy.
Would not surprise me I believe the first two of this trilogy with Pratt and Howard have both made over $1B total. Yep with that much money potentially, if this one matches that $1B+ in sales I would not be surprised if they did more though not sure where the story will go.
