I think Thornton on the 3rd line would really bolster the Avs chances at making a great cup run, while most of my fellow fans may prefer JP Pageau, I think that Thornton would bring some much needed experience to the young club.
The Avs could offer one of Kaut/Bowers, while Sakic seems to be still very invested in the success of Kaut (and he has looked great recently) I still think that Bowers is a bit of a better prospect.
In the end Kaut and Bowers fulfil the same role of a good bottom 6 center, so one could easily be on the block. Maybe throw in a draft pick or two as well?
Thoughts?

Joe would probably bring 3rd or 4th back. If you take the 4th you can also have Jost. That’s about it though. Your not going to get Bowers or Kaut.

A team based on speed needs a 40 year old whose game is based on slowing play down why?

I don’t want him.

Bad style fit. I think he would fit in well with the Bruins, if history could be put aside.

AVs are among the youngest, highest scoring and fastest team in the league. You might be the only person that wants an aging and slow player in exchange for former 1st + draft picks.

As others have already said, Thornton is not a good fit with the Avs especially at the cost of Bowers/Kaut and a pick or two. You should listen to your fellow Avs fans, Pageau is a much better deadline target now that Kadri is out for several weeks.

Thornton is a very bad fit for the Avs. Hard pass.

Are you trading for the 2020 Joe or for nostalgic Joe?

Either way, it makes no sense for Avs.

I'd be alright taking a swing at 2020 Thornton on the Canucks.

I don't see how he fits on the Avalanche though...4th line PP specialist/aggitator?

He'd be 4C (limit his minutes, give them to Bellemare) and on the 2nd PP. I think it would be a fun experiment.

That said, if I was in charge of the Avs I wouldn't do it. No need, and Joe is a husk of the player he used to be. Let him retire honorably in SJ.
