I could see Matthews if he can somewhat stay healthy, but I dont know so I voted Elmer Fudd, why? because he is awesome!

Matthews appears to be on a higher echelon than Tavares as an individual and the cornerstone of a rebuild.

Matthews is 20 years old but only trails Tavares 24-13 in career playoff games.

Matthews already has more goals than Tavares in a single season.

Matthews rookie point totals would be Tavares 4th best season in the NHL, despite being in the NHL for about a decade now.

Health permitting, I think they'll be at least equal to each other. Would be great if Matthews ends up better, and I'd say that's perfectly reasonable too. Fudd probably wins out based on career longevity though; that's tough to best! ;)

Matthews is trending better and having more team success at a younger age. But, Tavares also has two Hart nominations.

I'll go Elmer Fudd.

Elmer needs to work on his shot, he can't hit a duck or a rabbit at point blank range so I have doubts he could hit the net.

I like AM's chances of eclipsing JT but who knows? JT could be a Leaf and thrive as a #2C?

I think Matthews might already be a better 200 foot player.

JT is money below the dots in the offensive zone.

So when both players retire who will have the better career?

Austin Matthews or John Tavares?
They will both have lackluster careers without a cup. I think they should join forces and both be great

Who is this Fudd?
Is he a NYI prospect?
The name sounds familiar but I can't place it

Not enough data to compute. Somewhere around last November I would have said Matthews hands-down but after the injuries and lack of performance in the playoffs, I'm mildly concerned about Matthews' potential at this point. Can't wait to see him in the fall and hoping to see him back to form.

One guy has a wonky back at 20 yrs old, one is about to sign as FA in St Louis, and other did a great job of mentoring Rupert the Dog.

Not even considering age differentials here.. from the past two seasons:

Matthews: 0.51 gpg
Tavares: 0.4 gpg

Matthews: 2.22 p1/60
Tavares: 1.41 p1/60

Matthews: 52.26% xGF
Tavares: 50.38% xGF

I don't even know how this is close.

How about we bring jt down here and give him the ole hyman treatment, if he can’t break 40 with the mighty hyman, we have our answer.

Guys just think about this, matty scored 40 in his rookie year while paired with the mighty hyman, Johnny T has never scored 40 in his career and only scored more than 35 twice in 9 tries!!! Go matty!
