In response on thoughts about add some strength to this roster, most of you guys propose sit and wait when Michkov arrives.
Basically today Brier said the same things. So why you are unhappy now?

You wanted true rebuild with add some draft capital. Rocky Thompson and his PP coaching the best way to miss playoffs again and get lottery pick.

So the same question again: why you are unhappy now?
Because the current roster + Michkov isn't a cup contending roster, it's more of the same "first round fodder" style team this franchise has been since 2012.

So, if you can believe anything any of them say (which is always debatable), they are happy with the season, they admit they need to add more talent, but they will not be adding talent with free agency, and they plan to build with the draft so we all have to be patient. That about sum it up?
The solutions to their issues are likely internal.

Don’t see a problem trade half of 8 1st and 2nd round picks + Barkey, Bonk, Tuomaala (until nobody understands they are busts) for turn this roster to contender.

But unfortunately fans want mooooooore picks for everyone who can skate

Seriously fire them all. JFC.

You don't even need to look past that. No accountability.

He's been there two years. They've been last in the league both years In fact looking at the team history this year was the worst *ever*. 2001-2002 was a 13% clip. This year was 12.1

The team regressed and was almost 3 points worse than it was last year.

whats a bottom pair dman have to do with a 4th line?

None of that says they want to build the team from the 4th line out. That is just incompetence.

The brought in GH and Poehling on short term deals. Neither of whom fit the 10-12 goal pk specialist (edit: GH did) . both on short term deals to fill a spot that has been a sore spot for years. the 4th line. Not what I would have done. though not terrible.

Who would you have signed instead of those deals to help out the top 6 considering what they spent on those 2?

Bottom pair dman are the 4th liners of the defense.

They build explicitly for the 4th line to fit archaic notions of what a 4th line should be. They shoot low, instead of aiming high and letting talent push players down the roster. Or god forbid, using those spots to see how players develop.

Who are they trading all that shit for?

The point of accumulating the picks is to make them or, yes, trade them. But you want to be getting your high-impact guys through the draft, so you have them from the very start of their careers with as much salary control and flexibility as possible. Then you want to be trading the excess picks and prospects for established talent to complement the impact players you've drafted.

The caliber of star talent this team needs isn't like, "OK we'll get this guy with a 1st and a 2nd, and that guy with a 2nd and Barkey, and boom now we're an elite contender."

Say a big-ass impact player becomes available. Brady Tkachuk, maybe. He alone is going to cost you all those "spare" picks and prospects. And then you get a single guy, already eating into his prime, without much salary control long-term.

This is how the league works today. You need 3 or 4 really big guns, at least one of whom is a C and another of whom is a D. And then you need a wealth of really good players around them. They're just so, so far away from having them or the resources to get them.

Look at the past few Cup winners.

Vegas had Pietrangelo + Eichel + Stone + Theodore and insane depth like Karlsson, Marchessault et. al.

The Avalanche had MacKinnon + Rantanen + Makar + Landeskog and a sprinkling of Toews, Nichushkin, Kadri...

Tampa? Jesus. Kucherov + Point + Hedman + Vasilevskiy + Stamkos...Sergachev, McDonagh...

The 5th or 6th or 7th best players on those teams would be the best player on the Flyers today. By miles. They don't have a C as good as Kadri or a D as good as aging McDonagh anywhere in their system, let alone any of the guys above them. So far away. Until it's Michkov + X + Y + Z, backed up by a host of strong depth players...there's no contender to be built.

Tortorella is such a bullshit artist. He has mastered the art of creating unnecessary drama, in the name of self-glorification, while spinning it as others creating that drama. Then he gets revisionist with the asshole routine as tough love.

He then proceeds to call Couturier’s agent a “pissant” in a press conference. I’m sure that will bury the hatchet, John. Just put on your hot dog suit and get on with it.

Another load of shit. He coincidently decided he can't play hockey the same moment we traded for him and tried to send him to the AHL?

As was said the second the trade happened, the Flyers undervalued (for the 2nd time this year) a high cost salary dump. People can focus on the 31st pick or whatever for a legit top 4 defender, but they absolutely got taken to the cleaners in value just to say they got a “1st.” So much for the buyout.

There's a big difference between implementing a strategy that emphasizes long term improvement at the expense of immediate success (rebuilding), vs being bad in the short term due to complete incompetence.

Reminder that they think they are actively entering year 3/3 of the imaginary rebuild
this offseason is going to be hilarously bad additions to complete their rebuilt roster...

like think of the worst aged out rehab FA lookin for a new home will be the prized signing...

#buckle in...

remember when Staal was signed "we were surprized he was willing to sign with us"..

🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, summary of this packs of sh&&&t (some sources call it “Briere press conference”):

We need more talent, so we don’t sign/trade for big guns.
We need more talent, so also we don’t have word “tank” in our dictionary.
We put Ersson in a tough position, so we come in next season with Ersson-Fedotov duo
We are in rebuild/retool mode, so no one from Phantoms ready to help Flyers
We were buried by our PP, so Rocky Thompson stays
We grow winning culture, so we don’t get a f&&k about playoff run

Also, let's not forget that they playoff run was supposed to be integral to growing winning culture
