Land of no calls..
Good news that there won't be any holdouts who miss camp. Hopefully Moore can take a step forward this year. Lots of great tools but he's going to have to do a lot more in order to solidify himself as something more than a career bottom-pairing guy.

How much space is left for Malone because you know thats coming next.

Congrats to Moore. Hes definitely worth more, hit wise.

Probably in the minority here but I thought he was really solid (defensively and offensively) after coming back from the concussion(?) he got towards the end of the season and even if he can be a little soft I think he was a tad missed during his suspension in the playoffs

Great deal considering the talent. Hopefully he takes the next step this year.

Plenty. Malone won't get a lot, less than 1 mil. If he is signed and if he is on the roster, it means someone else isn't, so it will be a wash in terms of cap hit.

The bigger concern is the 50 contract limit. Malone would put us at 50, assuming Duclair and Graves go back to juniors.

No I agree. I thought he played very well in the playoffs. He was much more physical.

hes always been a pretty capable guy, its just he has those occasional lapses where he looks bad. Iron out some of that and hes a very valuable player. Hopefully with some more experience playing next to a consistent Dman he can start working on his offense again.

Brooklyn, of course
That's about right. There's going to be competition for his spot both this year and next. While it's his spot to lose in training camp, he has do something more to make the Rangers want to keep him. This is the year--Moore really needs to lift his play.

 That $500 got it done. Moore just wanted a Peter Luger steak dinner thrown into the deal.

God dammit, they just raised their prices from $89 to $99 for a porterhouse. Not cool, no wonder Moore had to hold out hard.

kinda sucks they couldn't get him for 2 years at least, just adds another player to the list for this next off season.

John you just got robbed!

Poor kid, he's played 173 games in the NHL since 2010, and still hasn't reached one million. He deserved a little more than 500 bucks extra, typical Slats.

But the Rangers now have a maximum of 50 contracts, I guess that means they wont sign Malone?

I don't think this kind of deal was ever on the table at that cap hit. If you're Moore and Sather offers you that term, you sure don't sign that for more than a year. If you're Sather you don't offer more money for a longer term because of the cap situation while that #6 spot on defense could be up for grabs and Moore hasn't exactly stood out in any way. Just no interest by either party to do anything like that.

Show me contract. I like it.

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $68,082,167; BONUSES: $350,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $917,833

That's plenty of cap space to operate a team over a full season... There's also a ton of versatility in that lineup too...

Kostka can play in just about any of the bottom 4 spots
Stempniak can play any of the bottom 9 spots
Lombardi can play any of the bottom 6 spots
MSL can slot in on any of the top 9
Hagelin can slot into the top 6
D. Moore can slot into any of the bottom 6 spots
Malone can play any of the top 9 (theoretically)

That's a serious luxury right there. Tons of versatility. Some good long term contracts, some size, lots of speed...

Not much to hate
