John Carlson - it's time to make a big step ahead

Carlson had 38 pts at ES last season and 16 on the PP. Green had another 17 on the PP. Those add up to 71 pts... I don't see why a 70 pt season is out of the question for Carlson, particularly since the Caps' top 6 is much better than last season.

its not out of the question, but 66 lead all defensemen last season and only 3 had as many as 60pts. only 19 players had as many as 70 last season. Malkin and Pavelski and Getzlaf were the 3 with 70. So, 70 is Norris Trophy territory

This. And as far as taking over for 52, Ovie doesn't have a PPG yet. Once 8 and 74 start clicking on the one-time passes, those points are gimmes.
