#481 Jeremy Jacobs, Sr.

Jeremy Jacobs has created a perennial championship contender out of his Boston Bruins ice hockey team, which won the Stanley Cup in 2011 and has fallen short despite deep playoff runs in the three seasons since. The revitalized franchise -- and the rabid Boston fan base -- has helped enrich another of his investments: the New England Sports Network, which Forbes values at $2 billion; Jacobs owns a 20% stake.

Why there will always be a part of me that dislikes him intensely.

That kind of money and he let years and years of opportunity go by the wayside. He and his miserly minion Harry nickel and dimed the Bruins out of some real Cup opportunities for many many years.

It was only when things got so bad that fans stopped showing up at the Garden in droves that he opened up the wallet and acted like he wanted a winner. Had to pay for his shiny new building and being a cheapskate with players wasn't filling the barn.

Hell the only time he spent money before that was when he ok'd the ridiculous deal for Marty Lapointe -- only because he got in a pissing match with another billionaire owner in Detroit. When push came to shove old Jerry shelled out dollars like they were used tissues (billionaire boy spat). But when it really counted he allowed Ray Bourque to got to arbitration.:shakehead

Good memories... JJ gets called out as cheap by Illitch, proceeds to sign Lapointe and later forces a lockout and a salary cap to make sure he can compete with the likes of Detroit.

Another man's success is not your failure.

It's nice to live in a country where people can make as much money as possible.

He made wise investments.
