Perhaps you should consider the context of the quote before posting this to satisfy your battered person syndrome.

The quote about European players was actually in response to when Tomlinson asked Benning about players transitioning from the larger ice surface to the NHL. I think it was actually in terms of signing European FAs.

The quote about defensemen/centres was around 30 seconds later following a question about the draft.
