How's Conacher working out on the first line?
And an observation: Garth Snow is pretty much the anti-Chevy
That fella went
ALL IN this offseason... now they have a roster that can actually make some noise.
Conacher is working out terribly on the top line, but the coaching staff is in love with the rest of the lines and they are producing secondary and tertiary scoring, so until Bailey or Grabner returns, I think Conacher will continue to suck the life out of that first line.
And yeah, Snow had an impressive offseason for sure. The most impressive part of it is (at least for me), is that Ville Pokka was really the only legitimate asset the Islanders gave up to acquire Halak, Johnson, Grabovski, Kulemin, Boychuk, Leddy, and Conacher.
I guess you could say the two 2nd round picks have value considering the strength of the 2015 draft class, but Snow & Co have spent years stocking the prospect pool to the point where two 2nd rounders that are probably 3-4 years away from making an impact at NHL level (if at all), isn't what this team needs anymore.
The Islanders need to show John Tavares and the rest of the Isles core that they are committed surrounding them with talent that will elevate them now and in the future, plus our top prospects (Strome, Nelson, Lee, Reinhart, Pulock) are all either on the cusp of making an impact at the NHL level or already all making an impact. Also, Buffalo having your 2015 1st is a nice incentive as well .
