I think the Jets will still recover a 2nd for Darnold which likely picks up a pretty good IOL. Go hard towards Thurny and you are starting to work towards really improving the Oline.

You have to change the QB, history isn't in the favor of Darnold improving much after 3 shit years to start his career. Fields doesn't fit the Shanahan West Coast offense so that makes the decision of Wilson quite simple.

We need some RBs, that probably involves signing Jeff Wilson and drafting a guy like Sermon in the 3rd round.
Fields would fit the Shanahan offense. I'd still take Wilson over him, but Fields would be a nightmare on the roll-outs and easier reads that offense creates. PFF is heavily pushing Fields to the 49ers in a trade-up, saying he'd be ideal in that system.

Fields has only played a spread offense from the gun at Ohio. There is no easier system to read. Not sure how you see Fields fitting a Shanahan offense but that's your prerogative.

Mayfield is great in that offence and he played a very similar system at OU. He has the traits to succeed in that system. Goff also played the spread at Cal, and McVay is from the wide-zone family family. Tons of QBs now have to adapt to snaps under center coming into the league.

Under center takes away from arguably Fields best asset, his feet. I think Wilson, also mobile enough for the bootleg, would be a better fit. May not matter with these Watson rumors.

Not really, if you develop a strong run game, he's deadly off the play-action boot or designed run. Shanahan was the OC for RGIII in year one, and they'd obviously tweak it. He'll obviously also get a ton of snaps out of the shotgun. I don't think the system locks them into having to pick Wilson over Fields.

That’s a couple of SF guys there. The good about seeing one your your guys get a shot is quickly offset by having to replace a couple of assistants that also go with him for higher roles.

Aside from developing player talent teams have to develop coaching talent.
