Incoming another shutout beat down.
Canucks 5 Jets 0.
PLAN the parade!
Yippee!
The “day by day” (no plan) plan is working perfectly.

I predicted a loss last game, but to their credit..the Canucks had a lot more jump than I thought they would (after returning from the east)..
It would be nice to have some of the injured players back,..how effective they'll be is anyones guess.

Just make it through tonight, boys, and then you get a much-deserved break.

We may have been short on talent, we didn't have enough to handle that horror of a schedule to start, but the players never used excuses. That's one thing I have to give credit to Green, the guys always give it an honest effort, even if the execution falls short.

I don't get why the Canucks can't play Juolevi. Are they going to wait until they're mathematically eliminated before they try him again? The only reason I could see is that they want to keep Benn in the lineup so he can keep his trade value up as much as possible, which, to me, isn't a lot if he's in or not.
Better to not healthy scratch a potential trading chip in Benn and lose leverage. I'm sure they will consider trading Benn for a pick and then allow Juolevi in.

I think the defence has looked reasonably solid since they tightened up the gap. Not sure who you would take out to put Juolevi in. But it is a huge mistake to not be giving your future ice time when games don't matter.

Would you really expect them to do anything but make mistakes at this point?

It's what they always do and have always done. Overplay the vets in garbage time at the expense of your young players that could actually benefit from no expectations.

You guys are going to think i'm crazy, but part of me wants Horvat to be hurt enough so he cant play. (but obv not hurt enough for any serious LTR concerns).

Losing Petey and Horvat then losing two games is enough of a reason for management to clearly throw in the towel on the season while NOT pissing off the players still trying to win.
It's a good excuse ("we're out our best player and captain" etc).

Lets move Edler, Sutter, Pearson, Holtby. we could likely get some pics for these players (sutter / holtby would be late pics likely). Lets take a shot at scooping up a top 10 pick and if we could get another 1st or another 2nd that would be great.
Management should be focussing on watching pending UFA's around the league to trying to figure out how much they have and who they could potentially spend it on.

Going back to my original point, i think that if they threw in the towel now, after the winning streak we had, players would be pretty upset and lose morale which might have long term effects.... management probably needs a good excuse to tank from here on out. Horvat / Petey out is a hell of an excuse to trade-away players and double down on next season and this years draft

I know, Juolevi was resurrecting hope in becoming a real solid top 4 with the way he was playing. He had really good stick work and was surprisingly looking like a young Edler with his physicality. After all that, his development is stunted again.

I do admit though that Hamonic and Benn have been much better lately so its hard to take them out. But in the beginning of his taxi time, they were terrible but were allowed time to play out of it. And before that Juolevi was benched to give Chatfield time to prove himself.

On a positive note, very happy to see that Horvat is ok. That looked like a season ending injury at first.
