Noticed on my 50 / 50 ticket on the bottom that one can win a $500 jets gear gift card by visiting DQP.ca/contest.

Sadly the contest they are advertising on the 50/50 tickets expired back in April, 2016

I had won a 50/50 draw in the US last year.

They had collected 40K
They kept half 20K
I was taxed at 30%
I took home 14K

I'm not complaining, but that 30% is a big hit, and it would be even higher for a lot of locals with income I would imagine.

If you are not an American citizen, you can file some paperwork to receive the taxed amount refunded to you.

I've never even been close. My ticket numbers may as well have Cyrillic letters, ampersands, and the Batman symbol for all the good it does me.

I don't like the way they draw it this year, someone pressing a button. I want to see the winning ticket drawn, so for that reason I don't buy them anymore

The new system has way more integrity it is the reason I now buy $50 instead of $20.

i used to sell 50/50 back in the late 1980s. times have changed...

in Toronto, i bought one ticket. my brother mocked me for not buying 3 or 5. i said "so don't be cheap. you buy something." he passed.
the winner was the woman who bought the ticket after me.
she didn't even buy me a ****ing drink for my sorrows

There has to be complete openness and transparency in 50/50s and not just posting the winning numbers in the Jumbo Tron type of thing. The who Blue Bomber 50/50 scam in 2002 resulting in the Arrest of a WPG Rifle volunteer who was rigging the draws made me suspicious of all 50/50s
