I really want to know what numbers the Sedins wanted before Burke gave them #33 and #22 though.

I don't know who wore what specifically, but I think they we're #12 and #20 before the NHL.

Smyl screwed that one up I suppose.

Really? I heard that they wanted high numbers and Burke was having none of it so, on top of which he wanted to give them #22 and #33 as a gimmick

Imagine playing on the Habs, your choices are 34 or higher

As do I.

I think it's neat in exceptionally rare situations where a player is so well identified with his number. Gretzky, lemieux. But it has been cheapened to a such a absurd degree now. Can you seriously not honor a player without taking his number out of circulation?
