Stupid Post. Bored. haha

What number should the New Guys wear when they come in? Obviously we know Ott is gonna be wearing 9. But What about Grigorenko, Scott and Pardy?

What number fits them?

idk about any of the players you mentioned by Marcus Foligno told me when I met him he intends to stick with 82 and not use his father's number or the 71 he uses now in the A

I like 82 for him. 71 should be a retired number for his Dad.

I also heard a while ago that Grigs wanted to wear 89. He was a huge Mogilny fan

I've never understood why you would want your number retired. If it was me I would rather have like when I was active; on the ice making points, not in the presser watching...

Mike Foligno wore 17. The only Sabre to wear 71 was Hecht, before he switched to 55.

Right, and Marcus wore 17 in Juniors and on Team Canada...in Roch, he went with 71 because I think 17 was taken at the time he joined the team...82 was just given to him by Buffalo on 1st call up.
Something to that effect.

I'm pretty sure Marcus wore #71 in Sudbury.

His brother, Nick wears #71 in the NHL, so perhaps that's why Marcus chose a different # when he made the big team? I don't think it's certain which # he'll wear going forward. I'm willing to bet he goes with either #71 or #82.

I was looking forward to Scott wearing Rayzor's # 32 sweater.

Wasn't there talk of that? Something about Scott asking Rob for permission?

Remember, Scott grew up in St. Catherine's and was a Sabres fan. He would have seen Ray as a kid growing up. I thought it would be neat if he inherited the #32.

Steve Ott wearing #9 - Adam Pardy wearing #27 and John Scott wearing #32 for the Buffalo Sabres is made official -
last name/number plates on their locker stalls - http://instagram.com/p/UbuPRRgXt4/

Mikhail Grigorenko will be wearing #25 - no picture of his last name/number plate but
we do have one of him wearing a helmet with #25 on it - https://twitter.com/BuffaloSabres/st...839617/photo/1

Well the reason theres no picture of his last name/number plate is because hes the lone Sabre at training camp who has yet to been assigned a stall. He has just a chair with a table behind it in which he can lay his gloves/helmet on. Nice picture of him, the chair and table on the front page of todays sports section in the Buffalo News. http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130113/SPORTS/130119590/1004

I like how numbers worn by Scott, Kaleta, Rob Ray, and Matt Barnaby match their roles on the team.

#36 Kaleta/Barnaby - Pests that occasionally score and can fight
#32 Scott/Ray - Enforcers with limited playing time.

I always wanted to research so see if there were other numbers like that where they were worn by similar players.

Oh yah, I forgot about that. Also, I don't beleive there's a coorelation between #26 Derek Plante and Vanek, BUT there is this:

In Sabres history only journeymen goalies (Ty Conklin, Mika Noronen, Robb Stauber, Tom Draper, Darcy Wakaluk) have ever worn #35.
