A few episodes of recurring bliss and then one day on Jay’s radio show a caller asked him what it was like to be on CHEERS? He said something to the effect of “It’s brutal. I have to kiss Rhea Perlman.†Well, guess who happened to be listening.

I suppose it was a testament to his resilience that he had been active and noticeable in tv and radio for so long. I had never heard that story, but I wonder if he got in his own way all these years. I could only take so much of his abrasiveness on his Sirius show. He was always a walk on or a late addition.

Thomas once said he was given the indication that while Rhea was hurt--the other cast members were offended and mad. Thomas was announced to guest star on CSI--when danson was on the show and then was dropped. I think Thomas get sacked was a cast vote type of deal

I was never a fan of the Eddie Lebec character. It was like he was trying to sound "Canadian", but it seemed too forced. He'd throw in the word "eh" a lot, but not where it made any sense.

Still sad to hear that he passed away though. I was surprised to hear how old he was, as it was older than I would've guessed. But Cheers was about 30 years ago.

I had no idea he was so sick. I haven't heard him on air in a while. I was looking for the show yesterday. I figured he was on summer vacation. RIP Jay.

Will always remember him for his Letterman appearances every Christmas time where he told his Lone Ranger story and knocked the Christmas tree star with a pizza on it off with a football. Second throw first time.
