EDIT: found an article.

He did step away, but no mention I can find of when he came back it was temporary.

Probably hasn't been for years (hence him quitting back then), but returned because the Canes really didn't have any other options

Jason Karmanos has been signed to a 3-year, two-way entry level contract.
