My first try at a mock after the initial lottery drawing, will try and include projection or outlook for each first-round pick. Ran a lottery sim to determine #1 pick.

#1. :coyotes select Alexis Lafreniere, LW, Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)

Outlook:
Potential top-line winger who can drive a line and contribute ~90 points a season; will most likely make immediate NHL impact

#2. :kings select Quinton Byfield, C, Sudbury Wolves (OHL)

Outlook:
Elite two-way centre with full toolbox, dominating frame and 80-90 point potential; high degree of variance but emerging talent around him in LA and key veterans like Kopitar could be crucial

#3. :sens (SJS) select Tim Stutzle, C/LW, Adler Mannheim (DEL)

Outlook:
First-line combo forward with an elite transition and PP game and enough defensive chops to handle centre duties in the NHL; among the best playmaking vision in the draft class

#4. :wings select Marco Rossi, C, Ottawa 67's (OHL)

Outlook:
A lot of noise to connect Perfetti and Detroit here, but Rossi's dynamic two-way abilities and puckhandling abilities in the offensive zone give Detroit a true blue-chip centre prospect. Potential 60-80 point centre with significant contribution on the PP

#5. :sens select Jamie Drysdale, D, Erie Otters (OHL)

Outlook:
Offensively-slanted top pairing defender, could be an elite PP QB and is capable of contributing on PK and shutdown role late in games thanks to smooth skating, elite agility

#6. :ducks2 select Lucas Raymond, RW, Frolunda (SHL)

Outlook:
Dominating offensive force; elite playmaker and skater who can make plays at top speed; potential 30-goal scorer with the creativity to become a offensive zone entry and transition threat

#7. :devils select Jake Sanderson, D, USNTDP U18 (USHL)

Outlook:
Late riser thanks to explosive second half and showing out against elite competition, looks to be a future #2-3 shutdown type with some offensive flair thanks to smooth skating and physical edge on defense

#8. :sabres select Anton Lundell, C, HIFK (Liiga)

Outlook:
Physical, mature two-way forward with great possession stats and strong offensive awareness. Solid hands for his size could be quick to the NHL thanks to contributions in all situations

#9. :habs select Alexander Holtz, RW, Djugardens (SHL)

Outlook:
A true offensive threat with good puck skills and an elite shot. Isn't much of a needle-mover on the defensive end, but he's an outside shooting threat and potential 30-40 goal scorer who could use some seasoning in his two-way game before reaching the NHL

#10. :hawksselect Yaroslav Askarov, G, SKA St. Petersburg (VHL)

Outlook:
One of the most impressive U18 resumes for a G in history, Askarov has insane lateral quickness and an impressive glove hand. Projecting young goalies is tough, but he looks like a lock to be at least a decent NHL starter with the potential for a lot more

#11. :wild select Cole Perfetti, C/RW, Saginaw Spirit (OHL)

Outlook:
One of the most gifted playmakers in the draft, Perfetti's puck skills and OHL production earmark him for a higher draft slot. However, questions about his foot speed and ability to stick at C persist. Best case scenario, huge impact on the PP and and potential 80 point forward

#12. :jets select Seth Jarvis, RW, Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

Outlook:
Jarvis exploded in the second half, using his great stickhandling and vision to become an all-around offensive threat. Shifty skater whose aggressiveness and willingness to go to high-danger areas belies his slight frame and could make him a strong complement as a top-line winger

#13. :rangers select Noel Gunler, RW, Lulea (SHL)

Outlook:
Explosive scorer whose lack of exposure at Hlinka, WJC may have dropped his stock. Big-bodied winger with above-average speed and a wicked release. Could be a strong supporting scorer in the top-six, with 30 goal potential at his peak

#14. :panthersselect Rodion Amirov, LW, Salavat Ufa (KHL)

Outlook:
Well-rounded winger who can adapt his game to excel in a skill-based role or a checking one. Plays a fast-paced, effective offensive game without sacrificing much defensive responsibility. Flashes explosive skating ability and acceleration in open ice but can outmuscle opponents along the boards. Relatively safe bet to be an effective top-six winger

#15. :cbj select Jack Quinn, RW, Ottawa 67's (OHL)

Outlook:
Quinn opened eyes playing wingman on one of the CHL's most effective power plays and led draft-eligibles in goals despite playing away from Marco Rossi at even strength. Relatively polished defensive skills, a wicked shot, and an uncanny knack for finding soft ice in high-danger areas; tough to project as a late birthday, but shows the tools needed to challenge 30 goals

#16. :flames select Dawson Mercer, RW, Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL)

Outlook:
Outstanding puckhandling abilities allow him to get to high-danger areas and drive offense. Average vision, more of a shoot-first player who could be an excellent complementary player on a scoring line due to his tenacity on the puck and finishing ability in traffic

#17. :devils (VAN) select Mavrik Bourque, C, Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL)

Outlook:
Elusive and energetic pivot with great skating ability and agility with the puck. A confident puck-carrier with innate offensive awareness and vision, Bourque also flashes an accurate shot. Inconsistent effort in his own zone, could become an elite winger with his ability in transition and on zone entries

#18. :nashville select Dylan Holloway, LW, University of Wisconsin (NCAA)

Outlook:
Powerful skater who shows advanced strength for his age and confidence driving the puck to the net. High motor on the forecheck, and isn't afraid to use his size or physicality. Quick hands and a great shot, but could be more of a supporting middle-six winger

#19. :canes (TOR) select Braden Schneider, D, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Outlook:
A strong skater with long, smooth strides, uses his strength and reach effectively to limit transitions against and shows a nasty edge along the boards. Jumps into the rush at times, but most effective as a complementary top-four option who offers PK value

#20. :edmonton select Connor Zary, C, Kamloops Blazers (WHL)

Outlook: Great stickhandler and good strength on the puck, he can contribute on the PP, and plays a solid defensive game for a young C. Easy to see him sticking at C and could be a strong second-line talent if he continues to improve his skating

#21. :sens (NYI) select Kaiden Guhle, D, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)

Outlook: Hulking young defender who showed more consistent decision-making with the puck and in the offensive zone this season. Smooth skater with good balance and agility to go with arguably the most consistent physical presence left on the board; projects as a top-four shutdown type

#22. :starsselect Martin Chromiak, LW, Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)

Outlook:
Showed instant chemistry with elite talent upon coming to OHL and his explosive speed shows utility in all situations. Flashed impressive vision in the o-zone and has European pro experience; has top-six potential

#23. :rangers (CAR) select Roni Hirvonen, C/W, Assat (Liiga)

Outlook:
Shows great awareness in both ends, shows a good motor and creative passing on the offensive side. Strong possession player and has the puckhandling to take it to high-danger areas. Could be a good complementary top-six player

#24. :wild (PIT) select Hendrix Lapierre, C, Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL)

Outlook:
Injury woes in both Q seasons, but high-end playmaking and offensive talent. Smooth skater and good but inconsistent reads in the defensive zone, Lapierre should stick at centre if he can stay healthy; he could end up as a top two-line centre who can play all situations if all breaks right

#25. :flyers select Lukas Reichel, RW, Eisbaren Berlin (DEL)

Outlook:
Well-rounded winger who can fly; shows good agility and willingness to use speed off the rush. Good wrist shot and showed well against pros in DEL, earning larger role as season went on. Looks like a strong complementary top-nine winger

#26. :sharks (TBL) select Jan Mysak, LW, Hamilton Bulldogs (OHL)

Outlook:
Well-rounded if unspectacular winger, was inconsistent upon arriving in OHL. Quick hands and good offensive vision who has 50+ games of European pro exp., Mysak has top-six potential as a play-driving offensive winger

#27. :avs select John-Jason Peterka, LW, EHC Munchen (DEL)

Outlook:
Breakout WJC forward is a quick skater who can make plays at speed and goes to the net hard; shows combo forward potential with potential to fill in at C, looks like a good middle-six winger who can contribute on PP

#28. :vegas select Zion Nybeck, RW, HV71 (SHL)

Outlook:
Small and shifty forward who lacks strength and a high-end shot but drives play with his speed and creates a lot of offensive chances. Great motor who makes plays all over the ice and shows good finishing ability in tight spaces; could be a top-nine winger with special teams appeal

#29. :caps select Marat Khusnutdinov, C, SKA St. Petersburg (MHL)

Outlook:
Undersized but great motor and pressures the play in all three zones, showing ability to stick at C. Dynamic skater and flashes impressive playmaking vision and puck skills; potential is top-six C but needs to become more consistent to reach ceiling

#30. :bluesselect Jacob Perreault, C/RW, Sarnia Sting (OHL)

Outlook:
Great offensive tools, including one of the best shots in the draft, and shows quick hands and good shot generation. Terrible defensive player who struggles in transition and doesn't drive play well. PP value will carry him to the NHL and his ceiling as a top-nine winger

#31. :ducks (BOS) select Helge Grans, D, Malmo (SHL)

Outlook:
Great skater with strong edgework and escapability in his own zone, improving puck skills. Decent first pass and strong use of his reach on opposing attackers. Has shutdown potential and PK appeal, with burgeoning puck skills could end up as a play-driving second pairing defender

Thanks for this!

I don't see Perfetti falling that far though. I actually think there's a pretty good chance that he ends up going at #4 to the Red Wings.

No way the Canes take a defenseman in the first round. They have too many already and their owner and GM said they wouldn’t be taking D in the first round of any draft. That last part is likely hyperbole, but they likely won’t anytime soon.

Looks good for Ottawa.

Not sure if Ottawa would go with Drysdale and Guhle in the 1st, but my first 3 selections are the same as yours.

Not a fan from NYR perspective.

Both players taken in first are too high.

Gunler is around 20th or lower.

Hirvonen I dont see going first round.

With players available, Id say Quinn and Riechel would be top choices.

Devils hate this simply because the Coyotes win thus making it so we don't get their draft pick this year

I definitely do not like it for the Sens 3 D 5, 21, 33. in a weak D class and a strong forward class.

3. Stutzle
5. Perfetti or Raymond .. Ok with Drysdale but not taking D at 21 and 33 for sure if we take him there.
21. Perreault or Lapierre
33. Barron or O'Rourke
46. Ponomarev or Greig
52. Jurmo
53. Jarventie

I can't see the Kings going with Shakir Mukhamadullin with their 2nd pick in the 2nd round. We have been burned by KHL players too often to move in the direction. With 3 2nd rd pick I could see us moving two of them to move up and pick a guy who more perfectly fits our system but, thank god I am not the GM. I like your draft and appreciate the effort you have put into it.

Don't like it for LA. Don't think they take 2 LHD and definitely not a KHL guy. The first two picks are fine but I'd rather go with a RHD over a LHD. LA is weaker on the RHD side than LHD.

2) Byfield
35) Barron/Niemela
48) Foudy/Smilanic
59) Savoie

That's the list I'd be shooting for on the LA side.
