There's been a lot of talk about Jagr passing Messier in points. But Jagr also made old man history in becomming only the second player in NHL history to reach 250 points after turning 40. Jagr also has a chance to become the highest scoring 40+ year old player of all time since he's only 17 Points behind Gordie Howe who had 267 Points in the NHL after turning 40.

Guys like Jagr Howe and Selanne have shown that we need to expect production from players even after hitting 40. And I think we need to factor in that in the alltime rankings as well. If Jagr returns next year he might very well become the only player ever to hit 300 points after 40. It's getting harder and harder to not put Jagr in the top 5 all time the way he's been playing lately. :)

They don't let you play into your 40s unless you keep scoring.

Did this really need a separate thread?

Well only one guy had done it before, and this is Jagr after all. Scoring after turning 40 is going to become a way more important part of a players legacy. Just wait and see what Joe Thornton will do after he turns 40.
