We literally have one need and one need only...center.

This doesn't benefit us "now" whatsoever.

If we're out at the deadline ...maybe.

It's fair value but an unnecessary trade for Columbus. He's a solid top 4 defenseman. Yeah we have some prospects who could maybe take his place right away like Carlsson but we would have easily the youngest, most inexperienced blue line in the league.

You want to trade a 1st rounder in a deep draft for Jack Johnson? If you're going to trade away a 1st in 2018, at least try and get something that's needed the most, a center.

If I'm Jarmo I take that deal. I think Carlsson can play top 4.

If I'm Bergevin I don't do it. JJ has historically been terrible in terms of +/- (goals and shots). He was above average last year for one reason only - David Savard. His numbers away from Savard were still below average.

Is jack Johnson really worth a first?

I'm not sure he should, but I'm sure he would garner a first. GMs love this guy. Burke had a nightmare after leaving him off the team USA roster. He's a big game player that can dominate both ends at times with his strength and quickness. Unfortunately little things like pass accuracy make him not a top tier D, and maybe more of a #4 than #3.
