Its definitely possible. I feel like we should win Friday. If we lose 3 straight and go out at home that would be a colossal failure. Game 6 will be the tough one. But I feel that we were so close in game 3 and 4 that maybe game 6 will be our breakthrough. Getting it to 7 games would sure be something.

Just win game 5 and take it from there. Don't let a potential game 6 or game 7 even enter your mind. To quote the great Boomer Esaison "One shift, one period, one play, one game at a time".

Eh.

I'll be most likely playing Mortal Kombat X with Jason. But seeing how I'm a sadist, I'll still have my TuneIn radio on.

Exactly. Go out and win every tiny battle one step at a time. Don't let Zucc go all offseason wondering what could have been if he didn't have a freak injury.

It’s a rebuild.
I know the odds are stacked against a team down 3-1 in the Finals, but can anyone point to the odds in the second round?

I know it doesn't prove anything. I'm just asking.

Through 2014, teams have trailed 3-1 in a best-of-seven series 270 times. Only 27 times has the trailing team comeback to win the series.

Breaking it down by round, such comebacks have happened only once in the Stanley Cup Final (Toronto 1942) and Semifinal (New Jersey 2000), six times in the Quarterfinal (Detroit 1987, Washington 1988, Minnesota 2003, Philadelphia 2010, Chicago 2013, New York 2014), with the remaining 19 comebacks occurring during the Preliminary round.

If we win Game 5 at home all of a sudden an element of doubt will hit the Caps. Lets not forget that Caps have a history of playoff failures and choke jobs. Win game 5 and Game 6 becomes very important for Caps because no way in hell do they want to come back to NY for Game 7. Baby steps - get a W in game 5.

We have to win all 3 remaining games, should I be optimistic or realistic? ;)

Game 5: Win at MSG, and plant the seed of doubt...

Game 6: Mother's Day game...Caps feeling the pressure of needing to close out the series at home and all the Rangers have to do is win ONE road game.

Game 7: MSG...Henrik Lundqvist in Game 7...the home crowd...the one game that is up for grabs.

They won't lose.

Teams have trailed 3-1 in a best-of-seven series a total of 229 times and have come back to win the series on 20 occasions or 8.7% of the time.

Amazingly, washington has blown 4 3-1 series leads, the most of any NHL team and maybe any professional sports team?

87 vs nyi
92 vs pit
95 vs pit
'10 vs mtl

Also, I had completely forgot that we blew a 3-1 series lead against this ****ing team in 2009.
