Islanders (2-2-0) @ Winnipeg (2-1-1)

Season series: This is the first of three meetings between the teams. The Islanders won three of
four against Winnipeg last season.

Big story: Isles goaltender Rick DiPietro made his first start in over a year Friday night, as he
made 23 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

"They did a good job getting traffic in front," DiPietro told Newsday. "I thought we responded well
after we were down early."

Team scope:

Islanders: New York played well for two periods Friday night and received another contribution
offensively from waiver claim Keith Aucoin, as the 34-year-old tallied his second and third goals of
the season to help his new club take a 2-1 midway through the second period. But Gregory Campbell
erased the deficit for the Bruins less than four minutes later before Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron
put the game away in the third.

"It’s pretty frustrating because we played a pretty solid game and we thought it was a winnable game,"
Isles defenseman Andrew MacDonald said. "Maybe we ran out of gas a little bit in the third, but we
still expect a lot more."

Jets: Winnipeg earned its second victory of the season in dramatic fashion Friday night, as they
rallied after Sidney Crosby scored twice in the first period with three tallies and another in the third
for a 4-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in front of a raucous, capacity crowd at the MTS Centre.
Jets captain Andrew Ladd gave his club a 3-2 lead late in the second and Blake Wheeler added an
empty-net tally with 1:08 remaining in regulation to seal the deal.

"When you're at home you start getting the crowd behind you and it becomes an extra player for you",
coach Claude Noel said. "They were right into the game."

Who’s hot: Isles winger Michael Grabner leads his team with five points (three goals, two assists)
through four games, while Aucoin is 3-1-4 and John Tavares has four assists.

Through its first four contests, Winnipeg’s top two scorers are defenseman. Dustin Byfuglien has two
goals and three assists, while Tobias Enstrom has five assists.

Injury report: New York will be without forwards Josh Bailey (knee) and Jesse Joensuu (groin) and
defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky (suspended by team).

Winnipeg defenseman Zach Bogosian (wrist) and forward Antti Miettinen (upper body) are on injured
reserve.

Nice work.

I like how we are already a Western Conference team with the luxury of playing in the East. These are not last year's Jets. Kane will be leading by example again.

I'm really hoping Scheifele is in for the this game. I'd like to see D Thomas Hickey play his first NHL game for the Islanders as well.

Go Jets!

I see us winning this game 5-3 with an empty net goal. Lets just hope we keep playing like we have been, and not lower our play to the level of the competition.

Great GDT YWG

I am laughing so hard at the thread already!! (Sweech and Tom I am looking at you guys)

Interesting and tough game.....last year the Islanders were a decent road team and we have our hands full. I felt good going into the Pens game and was looking forward to the challenge.......in some ways this game is the same for me, last year this game would have eaten us up because we would not have been amped up enough for it, I am looking forward to seeing how we respond to a trap game against an underrated (by us) foe? These are the kind of games you have to win of you want to be in the playoffs at the end of the year.

My record at the MTS centre This season 1-1

I see in the line up that you spelled Stuart Stuiart.

But still awesome work!

I think I must have gotten freaked out about Strait, Streit, and Stuart all being on 2nd D pairings. ;)

Actually, I prefer WPGNYR's excuse better. :D

I don't get the GDT

But it looks awesome. How did you do that? Is it a brush?

It's kind of like a rough draft of a newspaper article sent to an editor for review and corrections prior to publishing. Its all hand painted, because I'm crazy. :)

Just watched a replay of the Boston - Isles game. I really hope the Jets don't take this team lightly! They play hard. It'll be very interesting to see if they put in the same kind of effort that they did against the Caps and the Pens.

Go :jets Go!
