Coming in at #18 is Anatoly Golyshev, the third Russian to make the list after Sorokin & Iskhakov, but who happens to be a bit more of a "tweener" prospect. While Sorokin likely has an NHL role waiting for him, and Iskh is coming to North America to play NCAA hockey, Golyshev is considered more of a Petrov-type player, where it might be worth it to just stay in the KHL as opposed to an uncertain role in North America. Either way, his KHL contract runs out following the end of the 2018-19 season, so next offseason should be the test if he wants to sign an ELC or stay in Russia.

Here are some KHL highlights:

Christian Krygier has been added to the poll with 4 "add" votes. Other prospects receiving votes:

Adams - 3
Pastujov - 2

Surprised Salo hasn't hit this list yet. Granted the numbers haven't shown up yet but he was a 2nd rounder after all and IMO looked pretty impressive at this most recent prospect camp. Not saying that means he should be in our top-10 but not even cracking the top-20(potentially)? Not sure I agree with that.

Oh well though, I guess that's why we do these polls.

Which reminds me @CodeE , props for doing this. I did it for a few years and after the top-10 it became more of a nuisance than anything else. Appreciate the dedication.

I get people like Johnston as a player but why is he included on this list? Just cause you haven't played a lot of games in the NHL doesn't mean you are a prospect. He's a 24 year old AHL winger. How can you possibly call him a better prospect than Cockerill, Jenkins or Pivonka or anyone on that list for that matter?

I agree, he doesn’t belong

Mirageas, add Adams

Jenkins made a big jump with his development he was a 4th liner in 16-17 playing 90games and 13pts. One year later in Saginaw 68G 20g +24a 44pts in his first year in the OHL. 20 goals is impressive for any first year player. 1st team rookie all-star on the youngest team in the league. IMO 30 to 35 goals is a realistic number for this year. Could be the steal at Rd 5 of the draft.

He was also one of only two players on his team to score 20 goals. Saginaw wasn't a very good team Blade's rookie season

Makes me shake my head in confusion. I have Cockerill, Jenkins, Pivonka, Mirageas, Salo, Adams all above him.

I’m really surprised Mirageas is still on the board.

He had a comparable rookie year in the NCAA to Toews.

I'll take Mirageas over Salo

Add Pastujov. He's not a good prospect but then again a guy who had 8 points in the USHL just got added, so we're clearly out of "good" prospects

In Krygier's defense he is a stay at home shut down D
I would rather have had Adam Samuelsson instead. He played in the USHL and had similar numbers to Miller. I know he isn't as good but that's a nice steal in the seventh. Not too mention he is also bigger than Krygier.

Samuelsson never got drafted btw, even with some scouts having him go in the 4th round.

How you don't take a "screw it" flyer on Nando Eggenberger as a boom-or-bust in the 7th still baffles me. Really curious where he would have fallen in the rankings had we taken him over Krygier - I think he's the first prospect from McKenzie's top 100 to not go drafted or something like that.

As for Ross Johnston being a prospect - he's young enough, he's Calder-eligible, and clearly enough Islander fans are voting for him at this point in the poll. If you check the wikipedia page for the term "Prospect (sports)":

In sports, a prospect is any player whose rights are owned by a professional team, but who has yet to surpass a threshold where they achieve rookie status (as defined by their respective league), or is not established with the team yet.

If JHS hasn't "surpassed that threshold", neither has Johnston.

i am not voting for Johnston, but i can see him having a successful career. people think that he is just a goon, but he has decent numbers in the lower leagues. skates well, doesn't take a lot of stupid penalties. could be a 'better' Matt Martin?

Matt Martin NHL: 10 points in 50 games
Ross Johnston NHL: 6 points in 24 games
Johnston was playing on the offensively loaded islanders whereas Martin was playing on a more conservatively coached team, not to mention a coach who didn't like him
