Is this the end of the road for John Scott?

Do you think any team signs him? He was a real good story last season with the allstar game. I thought a team would sign him to protect the youngins in AHL. However even in the AHL the role of the enforcer will die with the new rule changes regarding fighting.

I hope theres another john scott story again this season.

I think he would be a good analyst, probably. Enforcers are often the most well-spoken players in the league.

He had a good run in the NHL with an amazing ending. Time to go cash in on his engineering degree. I doubt he gets another NHL contract.

i agree he has one of those broadcasting voices. Hope to still see him in the game in some fashion. Real classy guy.

The dude's well-spoken, and he's intelligent.

I'm seeing a job either on TV or in the office of some team.

Or maybe how the nhl's voting system was asinine, but no go for the easy laughs.

It's funny you guys intentionally made him the butt of a joke and now are all lovey-dovey with him.

Indeed, it turns out the world loves someone who can laugh at himself rather than take it all too personally. It certainly helps that the NHL tried some shady antics to try to keep him out of the game, but he didn't give in. So, he can laugh at himself, and he's the "little guy" fighting against the big wigs? There was no way he wouldn't win people over.

I agree with those saying he'd be good in the media, he's a well spoken man. As an aspiring engineer myself, however, I hope he uses that degree he's earned. It's not an easy one to get.

If he has any business sense at all, he'll translate his new-found fame into a personal brand that he can sell at pretty much any NHL event. All he needs to do is show up to the ASG/awards/Final/draft and say something funny into a microphone, and he has everyone's attention. That kind of recognition has monetary value.

The end of the line should have been 12 years ago.

Dude could never play. How he stayed in he league was the story, not the all star game.

Believe it or not, John Scott is intelligent on and off the ice. He'll get a job in hockey if he wants one (although IIRC I believe he does want to use his degree at some point).

With how hectic his career has been (in terms of moving and up/down roster moves), I'd imagine he wants some time off to be with his family, but who knows.

Probably a good time to call it quits. He had a kind of storybook ending of sorts, and he's a damn smart guy. Put that engineering degree to work, or become an analyst. I hope he stays involved in hockey somehow. I have nothing but respect for Scott.

If I'm him, I get a cozy job doing something with the game that doesn't involve playing the game.

Go out on "top" dude.

Like him or hate him, it doesn't get any better than that.

In the 80s he would be okay. In today's game being a good guy only goes so far
