Is there a more stacked offence than this Knights team?

I'm talking about all time here in junior hockey.

Where does this current London Knights team compare to other teams historically in terms of offence.

They have a whose-who of top picks and future top picks just shredding the OHL.

Marner
Dvorak
Tkachuk
Jones
Piccinich

94 goals in 16 games.

5.8 goals a game

On pace for 400 goals in a season...

They Obviously won't hit 400 because a lot of the players will be going to the WJC, but holy smokes, this is one stacked offence.

This is why they need to make the nets larger in the NHL, so the stars can shine the way these kids are in junior. This beats a boring 3-0 game any day.

That still won't happen. You aren't going to make the game more exciting by making the nets larger. You may increase goal scoring, but the quality of the game won't change. Defense is still going to be first and foremost on the minds of teams, and they will still shut the stars down on many nights.

More pucks may just end up in the net.

Probably in modern time. Remember the 06-07 Knights having crazy numbers. Obviously can't compare them to what Lemeiux's teams did in the Q.

You could just do what I do and watch the OHL over the NHL if you feel that way.

Been wondering how to write this so thank you, I agree :handclap:

They also have 28 PP goals...
Erie actually has a better even strength goals for per game but nobody notices. They are averging over 5 PPs a game and almost 2 PP goals a game. Plus a little skewed with 19 goals in last 2 games vs a very very weak Guelph team

To Answer your question, the Marlies scored 416 in 72/73 and 469 in 74/75.
St Catharines scored 438 in 76/77
Ottawa scored 405 in 77/78 and 402 in 78/80
Brantford scored in 79/80
Sault Ste Marie scored 412 in 80/81
Kitchener scored 418 in 83/84
Niagara Falls 410 in 88/89

Knights Record is 379 in 76/77

In the Hunter era the most the Knights have had was 316 in 13/14 they got 311 in 06/07 , 310 in 04/05, and 304 in 05/06

And London has a game in hand...if they play Guelph again soon the gap could be 20 goals between Erie and London :naughty:

Yes but Erie likely has 96 goals themselves with as many PPs. Just saying the gap isn't that different. Both putting up similar numbers but obviously London is going to rack up more goals when they have had nearly twice the powerplays as Erie. London seems to play a more loose open ice pentalties all over game. Erie more disciplined. We have maybe the fewest or close to fewest PPs but also the least pentalty minutes. All relative

My mistake, the OHL website updates goals for and against live during the game, but not games played. My calculation was done with 16 games played(because it was not updated).

That is pretty impressive, going back 25+ years, this offence is ridiculous.

London's wide open style does draw more penalties. London is also one of the most penalized teams.

That's why I said it's all relative. Erie least penalized team- also one of the fewest PPs earned this year. As much as the refs are brutal in this league they at least try to be consistently brutal both ways

Erie, Pa
Marner, 32 points, 32 penalty minutes. Will the trend continue?

Last night we saw the top 6 in points in one building, turned out to be more of a defensive game.
