IR in Yahoo leagues

So I drafted RNH in a Yahoo league the other day, where each team is allowed a single IR spot. Thought I could stash him on IR right away, but it looks like he hasn't been designated as being on IR yet.

I assume this is because he isn't actually on IR until the season starts? Does anyone know when IR will be formally opened up?

That makes sense.

EDM should IR him though because he'll obviously be out for more than 7 days.

So I guess my question is really when that will be. Presumably Opening Night?

it's extremely annoying because sometimes the teams don't do it because if they call a guy up to replace the roster spot they may have to expose said replacement to waivers when the injured player returns. so teams don't even bother with the ir designation and therefore neither does yahoo. i saw the other day that RNH will be out til 11/1 so i'd say there's a good chance he goes on, but it's a quirky system for sure
