Washington just paid a 3rd rounder in 2017 for Mike frickin Weber, 50% retained. Not sure I like what that says about the cost of rental defensemen.

Mike Weber (whom I like) just went to the Caps for a 3rd in 2017.

Rental prices on defensemen (physical defensemen) are ridiculous. JR and co. need to think outside the box, look at hockey trades, etc.

This could get ugly, otherwise.

Bennett for Hudler wouldn't work cap-wise, let alone hockey-wise.

I like Hudler but we have to shed salary to acquire him. And at this point, I wonder whom Calgary would want.

I think I'm at the point where just about any move will only serve to infuriate me. You'd have to be crazy at this point to think this team is only a player or two away from making a serious run. Just my opinion of course, but I have a bad feeling about this deadline.

Hey, we can't all be as good as the Sharks, who were apparently one Polak away from being contenders.

We shouldn't be trying to emulate bad decisions of other clubs, though.

With how much Buffalo got for Weber, I'd actually hope JR is a seller at the deadline. Get rid of the dead weight and recoup some mid round picks in the process.

We play nash 1 once on march 31st and dont play the leafs again. So im guessing this is player scouting

Good thing Polak already got traded or we'd all be freaking out. Maybe that Neal guy could be of service to us?

I bet they're still looking at Holland

The Leafs don't have that many enticing players available left. The only rentals they have left are Grabner, Boyes, Reimer, Arcobello and Parenteau. I wouldn't mind if we'd trade for Holland (we were rumored to be interested in him), I think he'd be a nice addition to our bottom-6. He's another guy who can play center, which would give us a lot of flexibility.

I bet they're still looking at Holland

I don't know why that's  worthy, he's not a bad player and he's still pretty young.

Basically half the leafs roster is available and other than komarov/jvr theres no one that is a good option imo.

We don't need bottom six help. We need top six help. Peter Holland has close to zero upside. He is what he is and he is not very good.
We should stop giving up assets for bottom six players who score a little on ****** teams. Most of the times they can't keep their pace on better teams, anyway.

What would the likelihood be of them trading Komarov? what would his value even be?

I have no info that i'm basing this off of but its think its low. I think its benefical to keep guys like him around for a rebuild and has been doing great for them this season. Winnik cost use a 2nd an 4th last so just imagine what komarov would cost with this sellers market..

Nichuskin is supposedly on the trading block in Dallas. If there was a way to convert him to LW I would love to build around he and Sprong as our future Top 6
