I saw this on reddit yesterday and thought it was quite interesting. It was created by the guys that MacT mentioned on CBC after that last Oilers game.
The correlation between payroll and performance seems pretty low. I wonder how much of this is because of long contracts making a player's skills and pay less correlated since they get paid about the same during their prime and at the end of their contract when they're past their prime, and how much of this is just due to some GMs being bad negotiators.
I wonder if there's enough of a sample size to see if certain coaches or GMs can get the most out of their player's payroll.
