The pair with Bourque.

Yeah - I think Bourque is the differentiator here.

I actually dislike Stevens. I dislike him - and i rate him lower than most. But still - with Bourque it's too strong to pass up.

Too easy. Bourque and Stevens. Bourque is obvious and Stevens was incredible in his own right.

The intriguing thing about Bourque/Stevens is the question of which Scott Stevens you're getting -- the offensive machine or the defensive terror?

And in turn, how is Bourque compensating for him? Is he running around going crazy on offense, or feeding assists while playing a more heady defensive game?

Depending on the timing, that pairing could dominate in completely different ways.

Chelios/MacInnis both right handed shots, rarely (if ever) played left side.

Switching Chelios and Leetch would make a better comparison.

Still take Bourque/Stevens, though.

This would be a better poll if the Coffee pair had someone other than Leetch. That is 2 totally offense first dmen on one pair.

Bourque is clearly the best among the group of top defenceman on each pairing, and Stevens is roughly equal to the other two lesser defencemen. I'd take Bourque and Stevens comfortably.

Stevens in today's NHL would probably be out with a suspention for 20 games each year for all the headshots he would be dishing out.

Bourque and Stevens wouldn't be fair. You split them up and have two pairings that would be both offensively and defensively elite no matter who you partner them with even if other two guys are even average. The other four are all great but Bourque is clearly the best and Stevens could be argued is not much off any other player mentioned if not better.
