And how many Stanley Cups has Jagr won on a team where he was the #1 guy? Exactly. Pens made him a fair offer based on what Jagr himself had said about wanting to play for Mario. Turns out the greedy POS was lying through his teeth as usual, and went off to our hated rival for a little more cash. If Shero made a mistake it was thinking Jagr had a real interest in mending fences instead of just trying to start a bidding war. How anyone can still be pining for this guy I'll never understand. He doesn't give a **** about Pittsburgh, and hasn't for years.

I think a lot went wrong during his second NHL debut. I have a ton of links that suggests the opposite of these sorts of opinions, but I would rather address the "he doesn't care about Pittsburgh" thing.

Take a look at this video from last year at 6:42 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Gtw1e9KQU

If he didn't care I don't see why he would bring up the dying alive thing again after so long.

He still has a house here at Upper St. Clair.

He has a Pirates hat, wore it over at the Czech Republic, and I imagine he was following their playoff run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=athvm_r2i54

Even after he signed with the Flyers, he still echoed the same sentiment that he likes Pittsburgh: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/video/6591878-jagr-still-has-love-for-mario-lemieux/

I just don't see what he stands to gain from all of this. I think he actually does care about Pittsburgh, but maybe he just cares more about playing hockey. He has made it really clear that it is pretty much his life.

I don't really think Shero or Bylsma were all that hot on him. Shero was more upset over losing Scuderi than not signing Jagr, and Bylsma was probably going to put him on the third line. I think it would have been nice to see him back, but the organization just had other priorities.

At a personal level, I think most of us wanted him back. To see him continue to produce adds salt to our butt hurt wounds, but I dont really get the point of these "in hindsight" type posts. In hindsight, maybe we should have taken Kessel or Toews. In hindsight maybe Adams didn't need two more years and Scuderi four. Well, I mean it's pretty obvious, no? What is there to really discuss?

Jagr > Adams, Glass, Jeffrey, Scuderi, D'Ags, Kobasew

Yes, it was a mistake. Not a huge one like sitting with your thumb up your butt waiting for Doan and Parise to sign elsewhere. But a bad decision nonetheless. I'm not surprised they passed though, he has more skill in one finger than half of the forwards on this team.

Big mistake. On the offensively inept devils he has 62 points. On this team only sid, malkin, and kunitz (barely) have more.
