In fairness, it seems like a lot of 17 year olds get drafted. I’m not sure how relevant the NHL draft is with respect to the Import draft. So few come over, especially the early picks.

So according to that article, Soo can hold the rights to Kudryatsev, Lutz, Nordh, and still make a pick. Interesting.

Technically they would have been down to two of them when the 22/23 season started. So they only have the rights to one of Nordh/Lutz. They can pick today but then they’ll have to cut back to two again when the season starts.

I don't think this is correct. According to the GM all 4 are still in the mix as of now in terms of still having their rights. If they ever get into a scenario where 3 or more report to the OHL then they will have pare that number down to 2.

You're wrong about this.. Read the article above. The GM said the exact same thing @HockeyPops did.

Kirill, Lutz and Nordh are all NHL-drafted players. Kirill only one signed. Reason Saginaw had to release one is because not all 3 were NHL picks, and you also selected Hauser(4th) in the 2nd round of 2022.

So let says Nordh wants to report tomorrow. The smart thing to do is let Lutz walk. We can keep 7 drafted and Kirill Nordh signed. Kirill gone next year and opens space for 7th pick player.

In any instance where it isn't Lutz reporting, he's gone, IMO.

Even if our 2nd import reports (let's say Nordh), I don't think we have to release rights to Lutz. I think the only time you have to release rights is before the import draft, and apparently in this case we don't have to release any rights.

Not to be confused with waiving/trading a player if more than 2 report.

Makes sense.

Misiak goes #1 as expected.

I mean Misiak, Mintyukov, sapovaliv and Hauser were all nhl picks and sapovaliv is signed as was Mintyukov. So really not sure how the scenarios are any different.
