Signing him somewhere in the 3 million range would be a good move. Anything starting with a 4 would be a mistake. There's just not a long enough track record to do that deal.

Someone will probably do it, though.

I wonder how much he will get it.
If he had more of a track record he could get 5 million but he doesn't. Thankfully Pittsburgh doesn't have money.

Now I really hope those rumours about the Canucks being interested are just that: rumours.

4.75M you could make a case about even if it's still high but 5.5M? Good luck in Philly, I guess.

All of these rumoured numbers, or potential numbers stated by agents, are 500-750k above what I'd expect him to actually receive.
The dangerous part of this is that you'll scare teams away.

He's worth 3.5M considering he's the best fit on a 3rd line, disappears for long stretches/playoffs and soft as butter. His top end speed and penalty killing are really his only above average skills.

Considering it's free agency he'll probably get 4.5M.

72 points in 146 career games (just under 0.5ppg) and 4 points in 19 playoff games. Clearly not worth the money his agent is asking for.

Only way he gets $4.5m is if it's a short term deal, like 2 years. But even then it's not great value.

I shudder to think what Nichuskin will be asking for if this is what Mikheyev thinks he can get.
