Probably neither. Like Gionta, these guys are banking on playing in the Olympics over playing for a few hundred thousand dollars.

This isn't really speculation.

Regardless, neither. Why would either team sign him? He's not an upgrade for either team. If Arizona wanted a slow bottom 6 RW, they'd have kept Doan. Doubt Iginla would move that far from his family. As for Montreal, they don't need him either.

If they had signed Iginla instead of Hemsky, you'd probably be saying the opposite right now. Hemsky at least has some talent left. Iginla is just mass.

Hemsky's been a trainwreck so far, and now he's hurt (surprise surprise). Hard to imagine Iginla being worse.

Iginla (kings version) would still be useful as a bottom 6 forward with PP production on any young team looking for veteran leadership and experience in aims of winning the cup. I'm sure he realizes by now that he's not that good as he used to be and settle for very cheap short term, if he wants to win.

He won't help either team, and he's finished. Better to give a young player his spot. Might as well develop your prospect pool.

Iginla is cooked past the point of 'Well Done'. He should've hanged them up 3 years ago.

He's done, but saying he should have retired 3 years ago is either ignorant or just an exaggeration. He was a 6 point guy 3 years ago. He still got 20+ goals and 47 points the year after. Last season was the year his play really dipped.
