Would Crosby catch him in on the career goals list?

He'd have to put up around 35 goals for the next 7 years, which would take him through his age 40 season. A true testament to both of their greatness - that Ovechkin could put up so many more goals than the consensus best player in the league and despite that gap, that Crosby could still be considered the best player in the league throughout his prime.

To clarify, not a poll to see who's better. I'm mostly curious to see where people think Crosby will end up, and it's interesting context to overlay it against his contemporary.

Of course not.

You’re proposing a player who has 7 35+ goal seasons in his 16 year career to do it 7 years in a row from ages 34 through 40.

He is 245 goals behind. Including this season so far, he has only scored 253 goals over his past 10 seasons.

Is OP okay? Crosby is slowing down faster than Ovi with more long term health concerns to boot but you want to give a hypothetical that Crosby plays 10 years while Ovi retires now?
